An Open Letter To The Executive Gov. Seyi Makinde

Oyo APC Slams Makinde for Criticizing Tinubu’s Subsidy Removal: SEO-Optimized Rewrite

In a fiery statement issued on Tuesday, the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) vehemently defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to remove the subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, while sharply rebuking Governor Seyi Makinde for his criticism.

According to Wasiu Olawale Sadare, the APC’s Publicity Secretary, Makinde’s condemnation of Tinubu’s subsidy removal lacks legitimacy, especially considering the governor’s silence during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.

Sadare emphasized that Makinde’s attempt to shift blame onto the federal government amid the recent labor protests was misguided, urging him instead to focus on addressing the state’s internal challenges.

The statement highlighted Makinde’s history of deflecting responsibility and politicizing issues, noting his failure to capitalize on federal allocations to improve the state’s economy. Despite receiving substantial funds totaling over N207 billion since May last year, excluding local government revenues, Makinde’s administration allegedly squandered resources through unaccountable spending, loans, and unauthorized asset sales.

The APC questioned Makinde’s priorities, criticizing his penchant for wasteful expenditure and capital flight while ignoring pressing issues like poverty and unemployment. The party called for accountability and responsible governance, urging Makinde to prioritize the welfare of Oyo State residents.

By refocusing attention on Makinde’s governance record and advocating for transparency and accountability, the Oyo APC aims to underscore the importance of effective leadership in addressing socio-economic challenges within the state.
