Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho

The Oyo State Caucus of Nigerian Youth Parliament has condemned insecurity in the state and backed the movement of Chief Sunday Igboho.

 

It’s no more a news that insecurity has become the order of the day in Oyo State today and especially the Ibarapa axis of the state where killing, kidnapping, raping occurs almost everyday, and herders have become terrorist.

It will be recalled that sometimes December, 2020 the Ibarapa youth group demonstrated a peaceful protest to the office of the Governor against insecurity in Ibarapa zone of the state.

Barely a year ago, the popular tranditional medicine practictioner, Oko Oloyun was shot dead along Igbora- Eruwa axis of Ibarapa.

Furthermore,on the 10th of July, 2020, Ms Modupe Oyetoso and her fiance were attacked on their way returning from their farm in Igbodudu. They killed Ms Modupe fiance and abducted Modupe away for two days. She spent two days with her abductors and was released and secured after an undisclosed sum of money as ramson

Modupe confirmed that her abductors were fulanis.

Two weeks after Modupe’s case, Alhaji Fatai Ogunniyi was kidnapped by Fulani herders.

On the 12th of December, 2020, Dr Fatai Aborode, a prominent son of Igangan has established one hundred hecters of farmland. He created employment opportunities to the youth of the community and sister’s communities. His farm was grazed and he went to the Seriki of Fulanis to lodged his complain. Unfortunately he was hacked to death at the same spot.

The owner of Subawah Petroleum, Mrs Sherifat Adisa and two other person’s were shot dead in Idere (Ibarapa) by Fulanis.

The prince of Igangan king was also kidnapped and was released after the payment of 4million naira as ramson.

These and many evil acts (to mention but few) is totally condemned and rejected by the Nigerian Youth. As our safety and that of our parents (who are farmers) can no longer be guaranteed by the state government. Who is saddled with the primary objective of securing the people of the state.

On this note, the Nigerian Youth Parliament (Oyo State Caucus) is throwing her full support behind the ever-courageous yoruba activists, Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly know as “Sunday Igboho” for defending our land and Ibarapa people against all bandits which is suspected to be carrying out by the Fulani herdmen.

Knowing fully thou that violence can not be the best form/approach of restoring peace and safety back to Ibarapa zone.

However, the Nigerian Youth Parliament (Oyo State Caucus) is calling on the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde and the Inspector General of Police to immediately reverse the arrest of Chief Sunday Adeyemo “Igboho” and find a lasting solution to insecurity issues in Ibarapa, Oke Ogun, Ibadan and Oyo State as a whole.
