Why I called Blaqbonez, Odumodublvck 'upcoming artistes' - Tacha

Natacha Akide, widely known as Tacha from the Big Brother Naija reality show, recently clarified her remarks regarding rappers Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck, whom she labeled as “upcoming artistes” on a recent episode of the Big Friday Show With Tacha on Cool FM, Lagos.

Following the episode’s airing, Tacha faced significant backlash on social media for categorizing Blaqbonez, Odumodublvck, and Shallipopi as “upcoming artistes.”

Responding to the criticism through a video message shared on her social media platforms, Tacha addressed the controversy, emphasizing that her reference to the trio as “upcoming artistes” wasn’t meant to be demeaning.

In her explanation, she stated, “One of the Big Friday Show segments has gone viral, and I’ve received a barrage of insults. Everyone is saying, ‘Tacha called Blaqbonez an upcoming artiste. Tacha called Odumodublvck an upcoming artiste.’ If I referred to them as upcoming artistes, what’s wrong with using that term? I hurried to Google to understand the meaning: ‘Upcoming musicians are those singers who are not entirely new as they’ve been in the scene for some time and are promising to achieve significant success.'”

“By calling Blaqbonez an upcoming artiste, how does that equate to belittling him or being condescending? Blaqbonez is my friend, Odumodu is my friend, Shallipopi…” [sic].
