Rio Mavuba, a former teammate of Paul Pogba, has come forward with his belief that the ex-Manchester United midfielder may have unknowingly taken a prohibited substance, resulting in his recent four-year suspension by Italian football authorities.
Having shared the field with Pogba during their time with the French national team, Mavuba stands by his friend’s assertions of innocence, asserting that he is convinced of Pogba’s honesty and speculating that he could have been deceived.

In an interview with TeleFoot, Mavuba expressed his unwavering support, stating, “[I am] fully confident in Paul’s sincerity and I believe he might have been misled in this matter.”
Pogba’s suspension stemmed from a positive test following a routine screening after Juventus’ Serie A encounter against Udinese early in the 2023-24 season. Despite the verdict, the 30-year-old remains steadfast in his denial of the allegations and intends to contest the decision through an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
