Nigerian winger Samuel Kalu collapsed on the pitch today while playing for his French side Bordeaux. Before the incident happened, the referee had awarded a free kick for the home side. It was taken and that was when 23 year old Samuel Kalu found himself on the ground, without contact from any player.
Well, his teammates and the opposition players near him were on alert and they waved frantically at the medical staffs to come onto the pitch quickly and attend to him.
After a few minutes of medical attention, Samuel Kalu was able to get back on his feet and was led away from the pitch. It was a wonderful gesture from the opposition players as they also helped form a shield round Kalu, who was lying unconsciously on the pitch to prevent the cameras.

Kalu also stayed on on the pitch for a few minutes before he was substituted by the manager of the side.
The scene held the breath of fans as it was the reminiscent of what happened at the European Championship earlier in the summer to Denmark’s Christian Eriksen.
Unlike like Kalu, Eriksen collapsed and was stretched off and taken directly to the hospital for medical attentions. We wish Kalu a safe recovery and wish to see him back on the pitch in no distant time.
