JAMB CANDIDATES: Victory At Last

Earlier in December 2020 RIFA made a release on the plight of some JAMB candidates regarding their inability to change their preferred schools due to the fact that they have lost the SIM card registered with JAMB during UTME/DE registration.

Thereafter the issue was taken up by RIFA leadership and today January 28, 2021. JAMB agreed with RIFA that candidates should be allowed to have alternative to telephone to receive any code meant for their identity verification.

In this regard a release has been made by the Board accordingly.
On behalf of members and friends of Rights and Freedom Advocates (RIFA) who have the trust in the Organization and gave us the support necessary for the emancipation of those Joint Administration and Matriculation Board (JAMB) candidates whose registered telephone numbers were lost and could not retrieve same but were hitherto prevented from having alternative means to the registered telephone number. RIFA appreciate the Minister of Education; Mallam Adamu Adamu and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Mr Boss Mustapha for their direct involvement and coordinated action on the issue.

Their coordinated action led to JAMB complying with RIFA suggestion that students should be allowed to receive same code for correction of their records with JAMB via email.

RIFA also appreciate the JAMB Registrar; Prof Oloyede whose personal message to RIFA leadership confirmed the then position of the Board. In fact his message made clear way to take the issue to other (higher) authorities which thereafter prevailed on JAMB to bow to higher reasoning.

RIFA also thank the Legal Director of JAMB and other stakeholders especially the affected students and the parents who believe in RIFA approaches to resolving matters.

On the other hand, RIFA urge those who believe once they are not affected by some challenges then those affected should not get redress to change their minds from being selfish to becoming altruism.

We rejoice with thousands of candidates whose hope of changing their preferred institutions has been dampened to please thank God for the opportunity if only they can still make use of it this session as most of the institutions of higher learning have conducted their post UTME.

Nonetheless, we wish prospective admission seekers success in their endeavours.
