Launch of Student Loan Scheme by President Tinubu Set for Thursday – Presidency Announcement.
In an eagerly awaited move, the Presidency has confirmed that President Bola Tinubu will inaugurate the Student Loan Scheme this Thursday.
Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Tinubu, made the announcement on Sunday during an appearance on TVC’s program ‘Counting the Cost of President Tinubu’s Reforms.’
Ngelale stated,
“Later this week, on Thursday, the President will launch the historic National Student Loan Programme.
“This is a major form of obligation reduction for Nigerians and families and young people at a time when Nigerians are feeling the pinch. We believe this is the way to go.”

On June 12, 2023, President Tinubu signed the Access to Higher Education Act, 2023, into law, paving the way for the establishment of the Student Loan Scheme.
This legislation aims to facilitate access to interest-free loans for educational pursuits.
Despite initial plans to launch the scheme between September and October 2023, the Federal Government experienced delays in its implementation.
