The central feature of hip hop music is the interplay between the Rapper and the beats. The beats can also be a sample of older recordings or made from an instrument. Different beats and melodies are weaved together to get the right sounds. They just don’t get to play traditional form of instrument.

The beat ranges from harsh and dark to sparse and relax but the only uniformity is that they have minimal amount of music complexity so as not to distract from the rapper.
