Terms For Romelu Lukaku Chelsea Exit Revealed As The Striker Facing Huge Pay Cut

The Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku has fallen out with Thomas Tuchel over his comments in the media and is now behind Kai Havertz in the pecking order.

And a report has revealed the huge wage cut Romelu Lukaku will have to take if he wants to re-join Inter Milan from Chelsea this summer.

Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge in August as Chelsea paid £97.5million for his services.

However, the transfer hasn’t exactly gone to plan.

The Belgian record for the campaign stands at 12 goals and two assists in 39 matches.

That’s not terrible, but it’s far from the 30 goals he hit last season.

Havertz and Werner started up front during the recent 1-0 win over West Ham.

Lukaku only came off the bench for the last 14 minutes and could not add to his goal tally.

Reports suggest the 28-year-old could leave Chelsea once the transfer window reopens.

He loves Inter and would gladly return to Serie A, according to sources.

Calciomercato explain how that transfer may come about.

First of all, Chelsea should not expect a big fee from the Nerazzurri.

They don’t have the best finances right now and would have to capture Lukaku on loan, rather than permanently.

Following a season on loan, Inter may then be able to turn the deal into a long-term one.

But they would not want to pay anywhere near the £97.5m Chelsea did.

Lukaku would also have to take a significant pay cut.

The report claims he currently takes home €13-14million a year.

Inter would only be able to pay him €6.5m at most, meaning he would have to potentially halve his salary.

Lukaku is willing to do this though. Calciomercato claim he has been sending signals back to his former club, urging them to ‘take him back home’.

The Belgian was Inter’s star man last season and helped them win the Serie A title.

But he is playing second fiddle to Havertz now, and that is simply not good enough.

One factor that must be noted is the sanctions on owner Roman Abramovich.

A departure for Lukaku may have to wait until the club’s next owner completes the purchase from Abramovich.
