Beware of Scam Websites - Internet Safety Advocate, Rotimi Onadipe Warns Web Users

The founder of internet safety magazine, Mr. Rotimi Onadipe has unveiled his organisation’s plan to address the menace of cyber crimes and internet abuse of today’s digital age.

Speaking at his organisation’s cyber safety awareness program in Ibadan on October 29th, 2022, Onadipe said his organisation was fully prepared to address all dangers associated with internet or smartphone usage and provide a lasting solution to the menace.

He added that cyber crimes and internet abuse are great challenges of today’s digital age that have ruined the lives of many young children, youths and damaged the reputation of our country before the international community.

“We are already working on setting up internet abuse counseling and rehabilitation center in Oyo State in order to attend to all issues relating to online dangers e.g. internet fraud, social media addiction, cyber bullying, misinformation and disinformation on social media, cyber-sex and pornography addiction, among others.”

“By God’s grace, I have interviewed and counseled some cyber criminals that are ready to quit cyber crimes and use their brain and talent for more productive activities.”

“Our focus is not only on cyber criminals but we also plan to make cyber safety education accessible for all internet users worldwide so as to prevent unsuspecting victims from falling prey to online scams and other online dangers.”

“We have made provision for rehabilitation of fraud victims and people that are addicted to social media through our internet abuse counseling and rehabilitation project,” he said.

Onadipe called for the support of all relevant stakeholders locally and internationally, stating that cyber crimes and internet abuse prevention need collective efforts.
