Nigerian female singer, Guchi unveils her new studio project EP “Purple Diary“, featuring Ladipoe & Yemi Alade.
A wildly successful run it has been for Guchi since her emergence in 2019. Within three short years, the PG entertainment talent has risen to top-tier status in Nigeria’s rugged music industry, making her one of the few to achieve this rarity in record time.
Further solidifying her position as a consistent voice in African music, the singer has announced the release of her second body of work, themed Purple Diary.
Purple Diary succeeds I Am Guchi; Guchi’s debut E.P. which produced discovery tunes like Closer and Peri Peri. Sandwiched between both projects are heavy-weight singles like Jennifer, Benzema, Speedometer, and Scatter My Head but all of them give way to a fresher vibe on Purple Diary.
Shattered, which was released earlier in the year, joins Guchi’s newly released single “I Swear” as the forerunners of the E.P.

For this outing, Guchi is in the company of some of Nigeria’s finest. Ladipoe, Yemi Alade, Duktorr Sett, Chech Da Producer, Shy Boy and Soundboy have been named as the featuring artists and producers, all of whom deepen the listening experience of the incoming body of work.
This release marks yet an important milestone in Guchi’s career. Some of her recent feats include surpassing the 2 million mark on Apple’s acquired music identification app Shazam, and 100,000 million+ streams on Boomplay and Youtube alone.
On the 27th of July 2022, she tweeted: “3 years in music, less than 15 songs, 200 million total career streams. The future is brighter than any dark shades can handle.”
Purple Diary gives us a glimpse of said future, as Guchi serves us six refreshing tracks, all packed with her signature vocal goodness.
Love remains the hot topic and it is approached from varying angles, with the right dose of toxicity that her zoomer fans live for. Hip-hop lovers are not left out as Ladipoe brings genre balance to the Afropop ballad playground. Purple Diary is due for release tonight 4th of November, 2022.
