Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men claimed a 2-1 victory over the Championship side, led by Red Devils’ icon Wayne Rooney.
Tahith Chong, who has joined Birmingham City on loan, scored a well-taken first-half goal to hand United the lead.
And Uruguay’s Facundo Pellistri doubled the advantage early in the second period, after Solskjaer had mad nine changes at the break.
