The Special Assistant Liason Abuja to Oyo State Governor Hon. Adetola Adedibu on Monday received an award from the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Oyo Central Senatorial district.
The award was part of the 4 days youth summit organized by the apex legislative body in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development at Ilaji hotel and sports resort, Akanran, Ibadan.
The 4 days youth summit which started with a medical outreach on the 9th June, 2021 at Olomi Community Market, Oluyole Local Government Area, where over 150 market women and men were attended to in sugar test,blood test, urine test, etc.
The second phase of the medical outreach continue the second day of the Summit at Akanran health center where 15 hernia surgery was successful done free of charge. Thereafter, had the inter secondary school spelling bee competition where U.I International came first and the panel discussion.
At the third day of the Summit, we had the inter-local Government football competition where Akinyele local government came first, and thereafter had a vocational training session where participants were thought make-over, auto gele, tie and die, cinematography and photography.
The beauty pageant, award and dinner night came the fourth day where this award was supposed to have been presented to Hon Adetola Adedibu.
The Hon Member Representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Hon Prince Femi Adeyemi in his speech appreciated Hon Adetola Adedibu for her exceptional attitude in discharging her duty in the public space.
He noted that the award is for people who have distinguished themselves in private and public sector, also people who have been immensely contributing to the socio-economic development of the youth.
This award is our little way of appreciating, identifying and encouraging them to do more for the youth course.
Hon Adetola Adedibu said that she dedicated the said award to youth friendly and progressive Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde for engineering policies geared towards educating and empowering the youth in the State.
Hon. Adetola hinted that Governor Seyi Makinde is investing so much in the youth because of his strong believe that for a country to attain greatness, is in the hands of the youth, adding that if the youth are well educated, well skilled and mentally sound, they will be able to play pivotal roles in various aspects of our national life particularly in the area of economy.
While appreciating the Nigerian Youth Parliament for the award, Hon. Adetola noted that her dream is to be in circular politics, and to impact the life of people around her.
Adding that her appointment is like a dream fulfilled and this always make her feel elated whenever she looks back and remember how she is using this opportunity she has to touch life and empower the youth in the State.
Hon. Adetola Adedibu further hinted that as part of the plan by the government of Engr Seyi Makinde administration to engage the youth, he will soon make tourism as an avenue to create job opportunities for those that are yet to be employed.
She called on other youths to use any given office they occupy to create opportunities for others to thrive.
“I am calling on my colleagues who are youth that wherever we find ourselves, let see the opportunity to prove ourselves that we are competent to do any assignment so that our leaders and fathers will know that we have come of age and can handle any assignment competently.”
