Reseachers has Identified New Strongest Symptoms for Covid-19 and warns people to pay attention to them.

The Researchers for Coronavirus now warn the loss of sense of smell and taste could be the best way to tell whether one has Covid-19.

The health officials have been warning people to look out for a high fever or a dry cough as the first telling signs of coronavirus.

However, some of the infected people at this period have reported losing taste and smell especially for young patients.

The British Rhinological Society Profession and the British Association of Otorhinolaryngology, a group of scientists tracking coronavirus cases in South Korea, China and Italy, 30 percentage of patients reported anosmia released this statement and it reads;

“In South Korea, where testing has been more widespread, 30% of patients testing positive have had anosmia as their major presenting symptom in otherwise mild cases, the association said in a joint statement, seen by Mirror.

“There have been a rapidly growing number of reports of a significant increase in the number of patients presenting with anosmia in the absence of other symptoms.”

Meanwhile, the Scientists at King’s Collenge London in UK, are tracking symptoms of the resipiratory disease through a specialized App that users sign up to record their symptoms.

According to a a data analysis by the Researchers, 59% of the 1.5 million people who had signed up by March 29 and later tested positive reported anosmia, compared to 18% of those who tested negative of the novel disease, Mirror reports.

According to the Researchers, loss of sense of smell and taste, strongly predict potential cases of Coronavirus infection, than fever.

The World Health Organization (WHO), only accepts fever, dry cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, aches and pains as telling symptoms for Covid-19.

In the other hand, the lead researcher, at King’s College, Professor Tim Spector said:

“When combined with other symptoms, people with loss of smell and taste appear to be three times more likely to have contracted Covid-19 according to our data.

“And should therefore self-declared for seven days to reduce the spread of the disease.”

At a glance, the death toll of Covid-19 is 42,107 with 846,156 people infected around the world.

Nigeria has 139 confirmed cases of Covid-19 positive patients, with two death.
