PLATEAU KILLINGS: Premium Times SACKS Reporter Over False Report On Miyetti Allah

Premium Times has sacked its Jos-based
reporter, Andrew Ajijah over a false story credited
to Miyetti Allah on the mayhem in Plateau in
which 100 people were killed.
The management of Premium Times also resolved to apologise to
Mr. Danladi Ciroma, the North Central leader of the apex cattle
breeders’ organisation over the story published on June 25. The
story with the headline, “Killing of nearly 100 people in Plateau
‘retaliatory’ — Miyetti Allah’’ turned out to be false.
The online journal had reported that the violence that erupted in
11 villages in some local governments was retaliation by the
herders whose cattle were killed. The report quoted Ciroma as
saying: “These attacks are retaliatory. As much as I don’t support
the killing of human being, the truth must be told that those who
carried out the attacks must be on revenge mission. Fulani
herdsmen have lost about 300 cows in the last few weeks 94
cows were rustled by armed Berom youths in Fan village, another
36 cows were killed by Berom youths. In addition to that, 174
cattle were rustled.”
Miyetti Allah distanced itself from the report that went viral and the
insinuations that it justified the killings of over 100 people in
Plateau State. Ciroma, was reported as saying that the killings
were a retaliation of previous acts of deadly aggression against
Fulani residents and pastoralists in the state. The denial and
strong protest by Ciroma led to an extensive investigation by the
respected online newspaper which discovered some infractions on
the part of the reporter.
Premium Times Apology On Misleading Miyetti Allah’s
Statement
An internal investigation by PREMIUM TIMES found that there
was no recording of any interview in which Mr Ciroma made the
statement, neither was any statement signed or circulated by
him that contained the quotes.

Premium Times therefore stated as follows: “While Mr Ciroma
acknowledged speaking with a reporter on Monday in Jos, he
insisted to PREMIUM TIMES that he did not make the statement
credited to him. In fact, he said what he told the reporter was the
opposite of what was reported.
“An internal investigation by PREMIUM TIMES found that there was
no recording of any interview in which Mr Ciroma made the
statement, neither was any statement signed or circulated by him
that contained the quotes. The error was traced to our outstation
reporter based in Jos, whose failure to properly attribute the
source of the purported statement by Mr Ciroma misled the editors
into believing that it was e-mailed to the reporter. The reporter
filed the story on Monday morning based on ‘a statement’ from Mr
Ciroma. But checks by PREMIUM TIMES following Mr Ciroma’s
protest on Wednesday afternoon showed that the quotes were
lifted from The Nation Newspapers. “.
The reporter later admitted to PREMIUM TIMES that he did not
have a recording of his call with Mr Ciroma, but said the quotes
mirrored the Miyetti Allah leader’s position on the latest killings in
Plateau State.

Man United Fans React To Januzaj Wonder Goal Against England #ENGBEL

Manchester United fans have been reacting to Adnan Januzaj wonder
goal for Belgium against England on Thursday at Kaliningrad in the
2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The 23-year-old burst onto the scene five years ago and his dazzling
displays as a teenager represented one of the few uplifting aspects of
David Moyes’ short-lived tenure at Old Trafford.

Januzaj chose to represent Belgium despite being eligible to play for the
likes of Albania and Kosovo but Real Sociedad man struggled to
maintain his early promise and lost his way under Louis van Gaal and
Jose Mourinho.
The winger endured a miserable loan spell to Bundesliga outfit Borussia
Dortmund and Sunderland where he was reunited with his former coach
Moyes at Stadium of Light but Januzaj moves to La Liga club last
summer for a £9.8million fee with Manchester United insert a buy-back
clause.

Ex-Premier League star after dribbling Tottenham Hotspurs left-back
Danny Rose and stuck his excellent 51st-minute shot past former
Sunderland team-mate Jordan Pickford into the far corner to ensure
Red Devils finish top of Group G as many Manchester United fans were
instructing Jose Mourinho to bring their former player back to Old
Trafford.

TANKER EXPLOSION: Foolishness Killed Those That Died – Eyewitness Narrates What Happened Before The Incident

Yesterday a fire incident which claimed lives and
properties occurred in Lagos on the otedola
bridge. According to eyewitness, the fire accident
that has reportedly claimed over 20 vehicles and
an unknown number of humans at the Otedola
Bridge, Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
According to a twitter user with the handle @otunbakush has
tweeted about happenings before the tragic incident occurred and
blamed drivers for their negligence and selfishness and for not
taking to the run immediately the tanker fell.
In a series of tweet, he wrote;
lost my phone to that berger tanker accident yesterday.
First it wasn’t that tanker drivers fault, a commercial bus dropped
off passenger where there was no bustop and entered d fast land
back without looking at his side mirror
Tread
#Tread
@Gidi_Traffic
The tanker guy tried avoiding an accident but look at what
happened at the end, he stepped on his brakes, hit the partition
and tripped over, now here is d part that got me like we are really
mad in d country, ignorance kill all the people that died
@Gidi_Traffic
that tanker didn’t explode immediately, people had 1min to save
themselves, every minute counts in a n accident, people were
trying to save their cars instead of their lives, there was a camry
infront of the tanker, man was actually trying to reverse his car, he
was so foolish
Save yourself and savage the car later, fire and electricity are like
the same, from one path to the other, now assumption kill us for
this country, people were in their car making videos instead of
running away, fire started, panic sets in, I watched as people got
burnt
It became a struggle contest, who’s gonna come out first, fire
rounded them up, what they should have done first, dey did it last
and paused with their lives, may their soul rest in peace.. But
foolishness killed those that died on that bridge… God forgive all
their sins
They ignored the possible risk of fire when they actually knew it
was Gonna happen, now instead of running away, they stay in
their car making videos, fire started and it became late
