Warning Issued to Chelsea and Manchester City: Potential Expulsion from Premier League Over FFP Breaches.
Chelsea and Manchester City face the daunting prospect of being ousted from the Premier League if found guilty of violating Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.
The recent punishment imposed on Nottingham Forest serves as a stark reminder of the severity of breaching Profit and Sustainability rules. An independent commission decided to dock four points from Forest due to their alleged surpassing of the PSR threshold by as much as £34.5 million during the relevant period.
This deduction has resulted in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad plummeting to 18th place, hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone with just 21 points.
Meanwhile, Manchester City is anxiously awaiting the resolution of 115 charges brought against them by the Premier League since the beginning of last year. Although a trial date has been tentatively set by league authorities, it has yet to be officially confirmed.
Similarly, Chelsea remains under scrutiny, despite not having been formally charged. Concerns linger over the club’s extravagant spending spree, which has exceeded £1 billion since Todd Boehly assumed ownership in May 2022.

According to a report from The UK Sun, three members of the commission responsible for penalizing Nottingham Forest—Robert Glancy KC, Mark Hovell, and Steve Holt—have issued a stern warning. They outlined a spectrum of potential sanctions, ranging from warnings to expulsion from the Premier League.
In their comprehensive 52-page document, the trio emphasized that for “minor” breaches of PSR, other commissions would determine the necessity, appropriateness, or proportionality of any points deduction. However, in cases deemed “major” breaches, even the most severe penalty, such as expulsion, may be deemed necessary.
