Ludacris And Vin Diesel Explain 'Fast & Furious' Lyrical References (Video)

Fast and Furious’ stars, Ludacris and Vin Diesel discussed bars that reference the film franchise.

Since The Fast and the Furious first premiered two decades ago, the film franchise has become a huge hit with popular lyrical reference among rappers. Vin Diesel and Ludacris, who both star in the franchise’s latest film, Fast and Furious 9, F9, sat down with Genius to explain some of the clever bars with references or connections to the films.

The co-stars broke down lines from songs like City Girls “Act Up,” Gunna’s “Dior,” and Wiz Khalifa’s  “See You Again.” The actors said hearing the film franchise referenced in so many songs is a reminder of the cultural impact they have.

“It just lets you know it’s etched in people’s brains and it’s etched in people’s lives,” Ludacris said. “It’s a humbling experience. It lets you know that, you know, we’re a permanent fixture in society and culture, in just everything.”

Vin Diesel agreed and added that the musical references validate the work they’ve been doing with the films.

“That’s something that says, okay, people are reacting to what we are doing because we’re moving in our films with integrity,” Vin Diesel said. “It is a sense of validation when people mention or reference our cinematic universe or our characters. It means everything.”
