The EPL table leader sealed their 10th consecutive Premier League victory when they edged to a 1-0 win over Wolves on Sunday.
The Reds now extended their lead at the top-flight summit to 13 points with another home success as against The Blades in their first match of the year 2020.
The unbeaten Premier League leader, Liverpool made it a full year without losing in the top flight. Tonight, Sheffield United were brushed aside at Anfield.
Sheffield United sits in eighth place in the Premier League table. A capable side but on this evening Liv were quickly cognisant that they were a world away from the quality required to spring what would have been a momentous shock.
The home team took their place in the long list of teams who could not lay a glove on the side. Once again lead the table with a game in hand by 13 points from Leicester City in second place and 14 from Manchester City who are back in third.
A slice of good fortune enabled the Reds to take an early lead – George Baldock’s slip allowing Andy Robertson to set up Mohamed Salah for a simple close-range finish in just the fourth minute.
But there was nothing fortuitous about their win, which Sadio Mane sealed, finishing at the second attempt after being played in by Salah.
