Liverpool vs Man City’s match started with full attacking forces.
De Bruyne moves smoothly through the inside-right channel and lofts a beautiful cross beyond the far post. Haaland hangs in the air for an age but can only plant a downward header straight into Alisson’s arms.
He’s had three chances now – none clear-cut but all pretty decent, especially for him.
The corner brushes a City head in the middle and comes to Jota beyond the far post. He tees up Elliott, whose shot from the edge of the area is blocked by… Jota.
The gloves are well and truly off now. Foden crosses beyond the far post to De Bruyne, who kills it effortlessly and tries to pick out Haaland in the middle. Fabinho intercepts.
Jota misses a great chance! This is pulsating stuff. Liverpool almost score again on the break.

Pep Guardiola is smiling sarcastically, waving his hands in disgust.
I think it probably was a foul – he grabbed Fabinho’s shirt and pulled him over – but whether it was a clear and obvious error is another matter. You can argue it either way.
Salah stabs a wonderful cross towards the unmarked Jota beyond the far post, but he heads wide on the stretch. He’s normally so good in the air, and that was a terrific opportunity.
Man City have been second best for most of the game, but have had two or three good chances to score.
Pep Guardiola looks unhappy on the touchline, though, and will be glad to see the end of that 45 minutes.
