Toke Makinwa, a prominent figure in Nigerian media, recently revealed a deeply personal and tragic aspect of her past during a podcast episode featuring comedian Ayo Makun, known as AY.
On her podcast, Toke opened up about a haunting childhood experience—a devastating fire that claimed the lives of both her parents. This traumatic incident has since loomed large in her life, becoming her greatest fear.
Reflecting on a recent fire incident at AY’s Lagos residence, Toke recounted her own distressing encounter years ago. She shared, “I’ve been a victim of a house fire when I was a kid and unfortunately both my parents died as a result of that. That’s one of my biggest fears.”
AY, taken aback by this revelation, responded with empathy, saying, “Sorry about that. I’m just hearing this for the first time.”
