A Belotti free kick goes straight into the Austrian wall. Austria look to break through Alaba but Belotti, eager to make up for the wasted free kick, tears back up the pitch and slides in with a commanding challenge.
A tantilising chance falls to Sabitzer right in front of the Italian goal. He has two bites of the cherry and mishits both of them… He walks away with his head in his hands. A goal there could’ve galvanised Austria.
The second half of extra time is underway and immediately Donnarumma is forced to lunge to his left post to deflect a great Austrian effort. Italy take the ball straight down the other end and it falls to Belotti, who scuffs his shot wide. Insigne is substituted for Bryan Cristante.
Franco Foda made two substitutes in the break, with Michael Gregoritsch and Louis Schaub coming on for Schlager and Grillitsch.

Italy’s substitutes have rescued Italy from a lacklustre second half. This time it’s Atalanta’s Matteo Pessina, who capitalises on a loose ball in the Austrian box and lashes it beyond Bachmann. 2-0 Italy as the sides head off for the break in extra time. Brutal for Austria.
Hinteregger brings down Belotti. Didn’t have much choice there. Insigne behind the free kick and it was going right in the top corner were it not for an excellent stop from Bachmann!
Austria are right back at it after conceding, with Schlager powering forward and sliding a ball through for Kalajdzic. Donnarumma manages to clear but the pace is frenetic already. We’ve got a game on our hands!
