Ten Hag Hails Garnacho's "Goal Of The Season" Strike

‘Erik ten Hag Applauds Alejandro Garnacho’s Sensational Strike as Potential ‘Goal of the Season’ Amid Manchester United’s Lackluster Display Against Everton’.

Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho left spectators awestruck with a spectacular overhead kick goal against Everton, drawing immediate comparisons to Wayne Rooney’s iconic effort against Manchester City. Erik ten Hag, while acknowledging Garnacho’s likely ‘goal of the season,’ expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s first-half performance.

The 19-year-old’s wonderstrike at Goodison Park on Sunday immediately sparked discussions as a goal of the season contender. However, Ten Hag, though impressed by Garnacho’s feat, voiced discontent with his team’s demeanor post the early lead.

“Probably the goal of the season. The build-up, not just the finish, was very good. The finish is fantastic,” he conveyed to Sky Sports. “After the start of the game, we were too relaxed. I criticized the team at halftime. They seemed complacent. You can’t afford that. You need to give 100% throughout the game. In the second half, we performed admirably.”

Garnacho, the Argentina international, expressed sheer elation about his extraordinary goal, stating, “I can’t believe it. Honestly, I turned around and thought, ‘Oh my God.’ One of the best goals I’ve scored – I’m thrilled.”

When asked about the possibility of winning the ‘best goal’ award for 2023-24, he quipped, “Probably! It’s still November, but yes.”

The overhead kick wasn’t the sole highlight for Garnacho that Sunday. At 19 years and 148 days, the winger also etched his name in history by breaking the record set by United legend Wayne Rooney as the youngest Red Devils star to score against Everton at Goodison Park.
