Newcastle vs Man United was tough as the away team take a quick free-kick which sees Ronaldo and Greenwood race onto a loose ball but Dubravka comes out and bravely smothers it. Very brave ‘keeping.
Newcastle thought they had another then. Saint-Maximin holds onto the ball in the box and sets-up Wilson for a close range finish, but he was rightfully flagged offside.
Man Utd had a huge chance to punish Newcastle on the break but Rashford skews a pass out of play when he had teammates in space. The worst part about this performance is just how basic the mistakes have been.
Saint-Maximin does well to find some space here, and fires a shot at goal. De Gea is equal to the matter. HE’s been excellent, Saint-M, but I wonder how much he will regret that simple chance at 1-0 just after HT.
Man United are being encouraged to press further up the pitch but it suits Newcastle perfectly on the break. Once again the hosts have threatened with a quick counter attack and now have a corner.
United look so disjointed you would think they haven’t played for more than two weeks. That is not an excuse, by the way.
Their front four is problematic in that they are too individualistic and that bad body language Rangnick spoke about is visible. It’s been inexcusably bad against the worst defence in the league.
