Chelsea have just settled this game down after a rough spell. They are knocking the ball around the Villa defensive third, looking content just to wait for the gaps to appear. That is, until Rudiger lumps an aimless long pass forward.
Nice pass inside from Targett to El Ghazi but his shot from the edge of the area is straight at Mendy. Then Chelsea do get themselves up the pitch through Lukaku before Pulisic wins a free-kick.
Much better spell from the home team in the last 10 minutes, but Mendy has not been tested.
Traore runs down a blind alley after good work from Watkins. Chelsea struggling to retain the ball after dominating the 20 minutes after half time.
Villa make their final change: El Ghazi on for Sanson. Alonso is then caught out on a long straight ball towards Traore but the flag went up for offside. The Chelsea defender was in a tangle, that may have been a strong penalty shout.
Villa making a couple of subs: Buendia and Ings off, Chukwuemeka and Traore on. Villa win a free-kick down the right and work the ball really well into Cash who reached the bar-line but a long leg from Antonio Rudiger cuts the pull-back out.

Chelsea defend a wide free-kick well after Alonso was caught out by Cash and dragged him down.
That incident has at least got the Holte End more involved, with Villa enjoying some possession in the Chelsea half. Buendia then runs down a blind alley.
What a chance for Chelsea to wrap the game up! Ball was played in behind into the right channel, Martinez came but was never getting there ahead of Mount.
He could have passed for Lukaku or Hudson-Odoi to roll into an unguarded net but he took the shot early with his left foot and found the side-netting. Martinez a relieved man.
