US President Donald Trump said his administration was working to end citizenship for those born in the United States.
Trump said he was working with a legal adviser to end the practice, which has existed since 1968, and provides for the automatic citizenship of anyone born within US territory.
“We are the only country in the world that a person visits and a child is born and he automatically becomes a citizen of the United States for 85 years with all these privileges,” Trump said in an interview with the American news site Axius.
“It is ridiculous and must end … We are on the way to that and will happen by executive order.”
