Josephina Itabor, popularly known as Phyna and a former Big Brother Naija winner, shared a poignant account of her relationship struggles involving her willingness to convert to Islam for her ex-partner, a Muslim.
Despite being a practicing Catholic, Phyna embraced Islam due to her relationship with her Muslim partner. Regrettably, his family adamantly opposed their union, insisting he should not marry her.
During an interview with media personality Hero Daniels, the reality TV star revealed that she made the tough decision to end the relationship after facing vehement opposition from her ex-lover’s sisters and mother. Their threats of eviction added to her decision to leave.
Adding to her emotional turmoil, Phyna discovered she was pregnant after parting ways with her ex-lover. However, when she informed him, he callously dismissed it as solely her concern, further complicating her situation.

Recalling that difficult period, Phyna shared, “I discovered I was pregnant after leaving the relationship. When I called him, he nonchalantly said it was my problem.” She made the agonizing choice to terminate the pregnancy, citing immense societal pressure and her aspirations for the future.
“The family’s disapproval solely because of religious differences was overwhelming. None of them accepted a Christian. Considering my bright prospects, I realized it would hinder my progress, compelling me to make the toughest decision of my life,” she reflected.
