Why Mateo Kovacic 'streaked' across Stamford Bridge pitch after Chelsea draw vs Man Utd

Here’s the reason  Mateo Kovacic streaked across Stamford Bridge pitch after Chelsea vs Man United draw.

Chelsea were denied their sixth win in seven games on Saturday evening as Casemiro’s injury-time header rescued a point for Manchester United at Stamford Bridge – continuing Graham Potter’s unbeaten run in charge.

Jorginho’s third goal of the season from the penalty spot in the 87th minute looked as though it would be enough to hand all three points to the Blues after Scott McTominay fouled Armando Broja in the box. However, Erik ten Hag’s men, who were missing Cristiano Ronaldo, found a last-gap reply.

A flourish of United crosses ended up in Casemiro heading in his first goal for the club since his summer arrival from Real Madrid. The draw was the fifth consecutive stalemate between the two side – extending Chelsea’s winless run in the league against the Red Devils to 10 games.

After the game, the eagle-eyed viewers would have noticed midfielder Mateo Kovacic running across the Stamford Bridge pitch in only his underwear. But why was the Croatian without his shirt and shorts?

As both sets of players shook hands, spoke to their compatriots and swapped shirts, the 28-year-old was handing over his matchday kit to a Chelsea supporter.

Supporters across the country have continued the trend of seeking out their heroes’ match-worn shirts, but one specific Blues fan went the extra mile on Saturday night.

Kovacic was seen live jogging in the cold conditions with nothing but his underwear and white socks after fans has collected his full jersey.

He obviously didn’t fancy staying out for much longer, with him immediately entering the tunnel and into the changing room as fans and staff looked on in confusion.
