Chelsea have reached an agreement €60 million (£53m) with Juventus
to sign Argentina World Cup Gonzalo Higuain, according to reports in
Italy.
The 30-year-old striker has spent the past two seasons with the Serie
A Champions and his has notch in 55 goals in 105 matches for the Old
Lady.
According to Sport Mediaset claiming that dethroned Premier League
Champions Chelsea have now struck a deal with Juventus for Higuain
and the transfer is expected to be made official after former Napoli
coach Maurizio Sarri is appointed to take over from fellow compatriot
Antonio Conte.
The Blues have made a new striker the priority with Alvaro Morata and
Michy Batshuayi both struggling last season with the Spaniard toiled
after joining from Real Madrid while Belgian star who joined in 2016,
went out on loan to Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
Sarri looks set to be confirmed as Chelsea’s new manager, succeeding
Conte, in the next few weeks, and the latest reports claim he will make
Higuain his first signing as boss of the Stamford Bridge club.
Higuain having enjoyed a wonderful 2015/16 campaign under Sarri,
scoring 36 goals in just 35 league matches to equalling a goal record
set by Gino Rossetti all the way back in 1928/29.
