Former Liverpool player Jose Enrique has expressed his views on the fallout between Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, and star players Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.
Enrique highlighted the strained relationship between Ten Hag and Ronaldo during their time at Man United. Ronaldo openly criticized Ten Hag in an interview with Piers Morgan, expressing his discontent with how he was treated by the manager.
Subsequently, Ten Hag downplayed Ronaldo’s grievances, but the rift persisted, leading to the mutual termination of Ronaldo’s contract with the club.
Sancho, too, found himself at odds with Ten Hag. The English talent hasn’t featured for the team in recent months following a public dispute on social media over Ten Hag’s criticism of Sancho’s training performance.

Enrique, sharing his perspective with Daily Star Sport, remarked, “I believe Ten Hag’s public comments about Cristiano were detrimental. Handling a situation involving someone of Cristiano’s stature is challenging.”
He further commented on Ten Hag’s approach regarding Sancho, stating, “Going public with criticisms about Sancho was not the best approach. These matters should ideally remain private, resolved internally.”
Enrique’s stance underscores the significance of maintaining privacy in addressing such conflicts between managers and players.
