On Wednesday, June 14 2023 a release by the Director of Information; office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Mr Willie Bassey, indicated that the President; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved indefinite suspension from office of the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), AbdulRasheed Bawa. For those who are in the know, there are many glaring frauds and corrupt practice cases with verifiable evidences at the disposal of the suspended EFCC boss which he failed to diligently handle. That alone showed a compromise and such a person is unfit to head critical agency of that nature
The suspension of EFCC boss is barely a week after the suspension of the erstwhile Central Bank of Nigeria Governor; Godwin Emefiele for gross misconduct. Bawa was also suspended after a meeting at the State House on June 14, 2023 for weighty allegations he could not provide satisfactory defence.
The era of outright suspension of questionable civil and public servants based on weighty allegations of abuse of office is a good omen for the Nation because lack of political will to sanction dubious public and civil servants in the past created room for monumental criminal corruption ravaging the public service in Nigeria.
Rights and Freedom Advocates (RIFA) eulogize the President for his patriotic moves at sending strong messages to enemies of Nigeria that it would no longer be business as usual. This patriotic move of the President deserves accolade because it is what Nigeria deserves to regain her status in the comity of credible nations. The suspended EFCC boss should be made to face the full wrath of the law if found guilty of the allegations.

States and local government areas also need to imbibe the patriotic move of the President by engaging sound and patriotic minds to help them eschew the myriad of wolves in their midst. RIFA would cooperate with all government agencies and authorities which are ready to sanitize the system for better Nigeria.
On this, RIFA urge the President to extend the tentacles of the search for criminals to Bank of Industry, NIRSAL Microfinance Bank, Bank of Agriculture, Revenue Services, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Crimes Commission (ICPC), Nigerian Armed forces, The Police, the Department of State Services and other critical agencies with indicting reports where ethics have been grossly abused for personal enrichment of officers engaging in illegal activities to the detriment of the State.
Once they have been duly investigated, they should be sued even though most judges and justices are evil collaborators except few. The whip of justice should also visit the judiciary which has been mainly the defender of criminals in the society. As the President struggles to get rid of the saboteurs in Nigeria, RIFA call for prayer and support of good Nigerians so that the President can leave a good legacy for all to be proud of.
