Manchester United’s interim manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has admitted he has been impressed with Alexis Sanchez’s eagerness to return from injury and says the Chilean was in contention to feature in Manchester United’s clash against Bournemouth on Sunday.
Sanchez had missed both of Solskjaer’s games in charge so far, due to a hamstring problem but is now back in England, after returning to his homeland during his recovery period.
And the 30-year-old is already striving to win his place back in the team, after training on his day off on Christmas Day.
Alexis is back, he flew in [from Chile].
“He’s had two days of good fitness work; hopefully he can join in training with the ball as soon as we get back in again.
“He is touch-and-go for Bournemouth but he will definitely be involved at Newcastle.
I’ve not had time to sit down and speak with him in that [much] detail.
“We had a day off on Christmas Eve, on Christmas Day he was off but he was in training but he’s eager to get back on the pitch, he is a workaholic it seems like,” Solskjaer said after United’s 3-1 win over Huddersfield Town on Boxing Day.
