Robert Lewandowski Insists Bayern Munich Exit Is The ‘Best Solution’

WhatsApp

Former Dortmund forward Robert Lewandowski has again insisted a move away from Bayern Munich this summer is the “best solution” as he heads into the final year of his contract.

The Polish striker has been vocal about his desire to leave Munich for a new challenge,

and has openly admitted that he wants to explore the possibility of joining Barcelona after eight seasons in Bavaria.

Lewandowski has also stated that he “doesn’t want to force” a move away from Bayern,

but has intimated in the strongest possible terms that a transfer is what suits him best

– going as far to say that his “story with Bayern has come to an end.”

That point has again been reinforced by Lewandowski in a fresh interview with Bild, in which the 33-year-old remarked:

He said:

“I still have a year left on my contract, that’s why I’ve asked the club for the go-ahead for a transfer.

“I think that in the current situation it’s the best solution, especially as the club can still receive money from a transfer.

“I don’t want to force anything, it’s not about that.

It’s about finding the best solution. We need to cool down, I want to talk calmly and not through the media.

“I hope the fans will understand me one day.”

Lewandowski has long established himself as one of Bayern’s, and the Bundesliga’s, best ever players.

In eight seasons with Die Roten, he has scored an incredible 238 league goals in just 253 games

– with his record in all competitions of 344 goals in 375 appearances equally as remarkable.

He’d undoubtedly strengthen Barcelona’s strike force,

although it’s hard to envisage how the debt-ridden Catalan giants could possibly afford a move at this stage.

Barça, as it stands, will be unable to register incoming free transfer duo Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen, as the club need to reduce their astronomical wage bill.

Frenkie de Jong is among the players in talks to depart Camp Nou to try and accommodate new signings, with Ousmane Dembele also set to depart.
