Speculations arose about the possibility of the experienced Croatian midfielder reuniting with a former Barcelona teammate in the United States. While Messi has already been accompanied in Florida by Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, rumors hint at Luis Suarez potentially making a move from Brazilian side Gremio to America.
Rakitic, who had a significant stint at Camp Nou from 2014 to 2020, has downplayed talks of heading in a similar direction as his contract winds down at Sevilla. Responding to a query on social media asking about a potential move to Inter Miami, the 35-year-old midfielder hinted otherwise, saying, “It could happen, but I believe he’ll stay here. There seems to be a verbal agreement on a 2-year contract renewal. Let’s wait and see; hopefully, our Croatian stays.”

Expressing his desire to prolong his ties with Sevilla during his second stint with the Liga outfit, Rakitic emphasized, “My focus is solely on playing and continuing here. There’s no place better than Sevilla. I may not have been born a Sevillano or a Sevilla fan, but I’ll always remain one. I aim to remain here for many more years.”
Although there have been murmurs about Rakitic attracting interest from Saudi Arabia, with lucrative offers from the Middle East, the poised Croatian remains content where he is and has no intentions of emulating Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo’s path by seeking a change of scenery come 2024.
