It has been claimed that Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, the billionaire owner of Premiership club, Leicester Citydied after his helicopter burst into flames after it crashed yards away from the King Power Stadium after taking off from the pitch, on Saturday night.
Police and the club are yet to release an official statement on the tragedy, but the BBC have reported a source close to the Thai billionaire’s family said he and the three others died in the crash.
Mr. Srivaddhanaprabha, 60, was reportedly heading for Luton Airport where he was due to catch a flight to Thailand before his helicopter crashed.
The other people on board were pilot Eric Swaffer, Izabela Lechowicz, also a pilot, and two members of Vichai’s staff, Nursara Suknamai and Kaveporn Punpare.
Witnesses say they heard the ‘engine stop’ in mid-air just after take-off before the aircraft plummeted to the ground in the club’s car park at around 8.30pm.
Tearful Leicester City fans have been visiting the King Power Stadium to pay their respect to the owner of the club.
