Nigerian Govt sends Interpol after fleeing Binance Director.
The Nigerian Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, issued a stern warning on Monday, affirming that Nadeem Anjarwalla, a Director of Binance, will not find refuge after absconding from custody and fleeing the country following his detainment by Nigerian authorities.
Idris emphasized that Interpol is actively pursuing Anjarwalla, leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to apprehend him.
The minister’s statement came in response to the evasion of the Binance executive from Nigeria.
Highlighting Binance’s international stature, Idris asserted that evading arrest would be futile for the perpetrator.
This declaration follows shortly after the Office of the National Security Adviser confirmed Anjarwalla’s escape from lawful custody on Friday, March 22nd, 2024. Anjarwalla is a key suspect in an ongoing criminal investigation concerning Binance’s operations in Nigeria.
Zakari Mijinyawa, the Head of Strategic Communication for the Office of the National Security Adviser, outlined collaborative endeavors involving security agencies, governmental bodies, and the global community to swiftly locate and detain the fugitive.
Mijinyawa’s statement emphasized the coordination with Interpol to secure an international arrest warrant, revealing that preliminary investigations suggest Anjarwalla exited Nigeria using a smuggled passport.

The Federal Government of Nigeria, in line with global counterparts, has been actively probing money laundering and terrorism financing activities on the Binance platform.
Anjarwalla, holding British and Kenyan citizenships and serving as Binance’s Africa regional manager, was undergoing trial in Nigerian courts before absconding while under a 14-day remand order issued by the court.
His scheduled court appearance on April 4, 2024, remains pending.
