Nigerian Customs Foils Smuggling Attempt: 15 Truckloads of Food Seized in Sokoto.
In a concerted effort to combat smuggling activities exacerbating the inflation of essential commodities, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has successfully intercepted 15 trucks laden with food items in Sokoto State.
Abubakar Chafe, the spokesperson for the NCS Sokoto Command, disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday that the interception took place along the Gwadabawa-Illela road.
The impounding of these trucks was prompted by the substantial quantity of farm produce they were transporting, indicating a potential smuggling operation.
Currently under the custody of the NCS, an ongoing investigation aims to identify the owners and intended destinations of the intercepted food items.
