Manchester United fans are glued to their phones awaiting transfer news of Erik ten Hag’s first signing.

Darwin Nunes and Jurrien Timber are two key targets for the Red Devils while ex-Ajax men Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong are other players said to interest the new manager.

In terms of outgoings, Paul Pogba has joined Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Nemanja Matic in departing after their contracts expired.

But Marcus Rashford has been discussed in terms of a move abroad, or even to Tottenham, with United demanding £80million for their homegrown forward.

Below is our morning round-up of the latest Man United transfer rumours…

Darwin Nunez

Spanish clubs are thought to have the upper hand in the race for the £65million star, according to the Telegraph.

A Champions League club is said to be the Benfica striker’s preference amid interest from Old Trafford.

Uruguayan journalist Sebastian Giovanelli notes that Newcastle are key competitors to United in this transfer race, with Liverpool also tipped to make a bid if they sell Sadio Mane.

Jurrien Timber

Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal has told Jurrien Timber to only sign for a club where he will play regularly, after reports of the defender mulling over a move to Old Trafford.

The former Red Devils manager said on Tuesday:

“I think a player of his quality can play in the Premier League.

That is not a problem. If he has to make this big step now, that’s the question.

“[If he does not play] then he is not so wise, I think. He has to play.”

Marcus Rashford

Football agent Roberto De Fanti has claimed Tottenham, plus clubs in Spain and Italy, are interested in signing Marcus Rashford.

United would reportedly demand £80million for the academy product and are said to be confident that no club will meet this price tag.

Furthermore, he tells Caught Offside that a move to Spurs would be “impossible” despite recent discussions between the player’s camp and the north London club.
