Manchester United’s midfielder Casemiro suffered an ankle injury while representing Brazil in international duty this week.
The 31-year-old was part of the Selecao’s lineup during their 1-1 draw with Venezuela in a World Cup qualifying match. Unfortunately, Casemiro had to be substituted with just over 10 minutes left on the clock when coach Fernando Diniz made three substitutions simultaneously.
This injury adds to a challenging week for the former Real Madrid star, who was replaced at half-time during United’s recent 2-1 victory over Brentford due to a subpar performance.
Coach Erik ten Hag is likely hoping for a swift recovery from the experienced player, considering the absence of key players like Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Amad Diallo.

Speaking to Globo Esporte, Ten Hag stated, “We had good control when the substitutions were made. Casemiro requested to be substituted due to an ankle injury.”
As of now, it remains uncertain if Casemiro will be fit to play when Brazil faces Uruguay on October 18. Alternatively, he will return to Manchester United and aim to recover in time for their clash against Sheffield United on October 21.
