The match between Liverpool & Nottingham Forest started with full attacking forces.
There is a really nervy feel to this game now, influenced, perhaps, by the fact that neither side can really defend at the moment.
Forest will have chances, they just need to stay in the game long enough for them to count.
Awoniyi gets in behind Van Dijk and looks to pull it across for Gibbs-White but it’s cleared. The long throw, launched by Mangala, is headed out for a corner.
Diogo Jota gets his second of the game and his fourth of the week, finishing coolly from Andy Robertson’s free-kick. It sounds like Forest’s defending was on the shambolic side of egregious.
Forest are level through Neco Williams! It’s taken a deflection off Andy Robertson on its way past Alisson. 1-1. I’ve just seen the replay anf the deflection has wrong-footed the goalkeeper.
Liverpool win a free-kick on the left, in a pretty unthreatening position. Alexander-Arnold, however, spots a gap and tells Jota to run into it. He dinks the ball to the Portuguese, who takes a touch before rifling it across Navas and into the bottom corner. As easy as you like.
Neco Williams has scored against his old club with a deflected shot. He doesn’t celebrate, with it being against his former club, and that performative nonsense really has to stop doesn’t it.

Since the Liverpool opener, about five minutes ago, Forest have come out of their shell and threatened. They deserve that for their adventure this half, at least.
It comes through Liverpool committing too many men forward and Forest picking them off. Lodi plays it down to Danilo, who spots the run of Williams in acres of space.
He has time to pick his spot, though Robertson almost gets across – his intervention deflects it beyond the helpless Alisson.
That was about as one-sided a first half as is possible at top-level football in terms of possession.
Liverpool, though, haven’t done enough with it and Forest will be delighted so far. However, there were signs the away side are starting to tire a little bit, mentally at least, before the break.
And Forest still can’t defend set-pieces. They just aren’t very good at it and that surely must be an area the Reds mine in the second half. But we’ve been here before. We know what happened at the City Ground.
