Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has admitted his excitement towards re-signing striker Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.

The two clubs have agreed the terms of a loan deal, with Lukaku expected to undergo a

medical on Wednesday before putting pen to paper on his return to the club with whom he won the Serie A title in 2020/21.

With things now close to completion, Marotta has admitted he is looking forward to seeing Lukaku in Nerazzurri colours once again.

“I hope it can be closed, not in a few hours, but a few days,” Marotta said. “We cannot make it official yet.

“He is a returning player who has done very well with us and we are happy to bring him home.”

Inter have paid an initial €8m (£6.9m) to bring Lukaku in on a one-year loan deal which

does not include a formal option or obligation to buy permanently, although the two clubs are open to further discussions later in the season.

As well as finalising Lukaku’s transfer, Marotta is also looking to strike a deal for impending free agent Paulo Dybala, who will walk away

from Juventus when his contract expires at the end of the month.

“For Dybala, I do not hide the fact that we have met its representatives,” Marotta explained.

“We need to carry out surveys and explore new paths, among these there is everything.

“Now with Dybala, to reach a conclusion, there must be important meetings. To date, we have not reached any agreement.”
