Renowned musician, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, known as Mayorkun, has called upon members of the National Assembly to prioritize the repair and maintenance of Nigerian roads over acquiring new vehicles for themselves.
In recent times, there has been widespread public criticism regarding the decision to procure 2023 model Toyota Prado vehicles for all 469 members of the Assembly.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Services, Sunday Karimi, attempted to defend the purchase by emphasizing the poor condition of Nigerian roads. He argued that the acquisition of these vehicles was a necessity.
Responding to the situation through his Snapchat page, Mayorkun issued a passionate plea to the lawmakers, urging them to direct their resources and efforts towards the improvement of Nigerian road infrastructure rather than investing in new vehicles.

He conveyed his message with the following words, “Our roads are in deplorable conditions, and yet, you are purchasing brand new SUVs. Prioritize fixing the roads! The state of the Lekki Epe Express road is terrible and unacceptable! It’s about time we address these issues and provide better infrastructure. In this country, there’s hardly any road that’s truly enjoyable to drive on. Let’s make road maintenance a priority.”
His statement reads;
“Road no good, una dey buy new SUV.
“Fix the f**king rooooadddddd!!!!
“Lekki Epe Express is Terrible!. Appalling sh*t!
“Nothing like I can drive’ in this country o, I sabi road’ is a better compliment.”
