Nigeria’s Government Reduces Electricity Tariff for Band A Customers.
The Nigerian government has announced a reduction in the electricity tariff for Band A customers, providing some relief for those who receive consistent power supply.
Previously, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) set the rate for Band A customers at N225 per kilowatt-hour (KWh) for those receiving at least 20 hours of daily supply. With the recent revision, Band A customers will now pay N206.80 per KWh.

Ikeja Electric, one of the major distribution companies in the country, informed its customers of the change in a notice on Monday. The notice stated, “Please be informed of the downward tariff review for our Band A feeders from N225/KWh to N206.80/KWh effective May 6, 2024, with a guaranteed daily supply of 20-24 hours.”
This reduction in tariffs applies only to Band A customers, while rates for Bands B, C, D, and E will remain the same.
