Manchester City extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to 15 points tonight by beating Wolves in a tight contest.
City have made it 21 wins in a row now, moving another three points clear of Manchester United – for 24 hours at least – as they continue to take complete control of the title race.
Wolves did the double over City last season and defended well against the Blues just as Pep Guardiola predicted they would. Guardiola made six changes to his side from the West Ham win, bringing back the likes of Aymeric Laporte, Joao Cancelo, Rodri and Raheem Sterling.
Game, set and match to City. The scoreline is fair on the balance of play, but it betrays some nervy moments up until the 90th minute. City were well worth their win though, and Guardiola will be delighted that his side came through a tough challenge.

Pep now only care about Man Utd and he said;
“Man United. This is the only care. The records we will see when it is all over. Man United.
“The champions is Liverpool. The crown belongs to them. We are in the best position now to take it out and we are going to try but they are the champions. We want to win it and defend it all season. 33 points to play, 15 clear. Now rest, especially mentally, we don’t have much time, and prepare for United at home.”
Pep Guardiola’s side upped the tempo in the closing stages and reclaimed the lead when Gabriel Jesus fired home 10 minutes from time. Riyad Mahrez added another in the last minute and Jesus put gloss on the scoreline with a fourth with the last kick of the game.
The result extended City’s lead at the top of the table to 15 points and prolonged their extraordinary winning sequence, which is already a record for an English top-flight side.
They are now only two short of equalling Bayern Munich’s record 23 successive wins for a top-flight from any of Europe’s recognised ‘top five’ leagues and six behind Welsh side TNS’ world record.
