Chelsea's Jackson Makes Shock Return To Villarreal (Video)

Nicolas Jackson, a forward for Chelsea, surprised many by returning to Villarreal’s dressing room within 24 hours after Chelsea’s disappointing 4-1 loss to Newcastle.

In Saturday’s match at St James’ Park, Jackson was among the underperforming Chelsea players contributing to their substantial defeat, leaving the team in a concerning 10th place in the Premier League standings. However, the 22-year-old swiftly shifted his focus away from the match result. Notably, he was seen back at El Madrigal, his former club, to witness Villarreal’s La Liga clash against Osasuna the following day. In front of a vibrant home crowd, Villarreal secured a 3-1 victory, with Jose Luis Morales scoring a hat-trick. Jackson was present to congratulate Morales on his remarkable performance after the game.

Having made a move from Villarreal to Chelsea in a £30 million ($38m) deal last July, Jackson concluded his two-season tenure at El Madrigal. Despite his 13 goals in 47 matches for the Spanish club, the Senegal international faced challenges in maintaining consistency during his initial months at Stamford Bridge. While Jackson has netted seven goals for the Blues this season, scrutiny surrounds his finishing skills, especially as three of those goals came in an intense derby match against Tottenham.

The circumstances regarding Jackson’s return to Villarreal remain unclear, whether it was sanctioned by Chelsea’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino, who openly criticized his team’s poor performance against Newcastle. Nonetheless, Jackson is expected to be back in contention for a spot in Pochettino’s starting lineup as Chelsea kick off their December fixtures with a home game against Brighton.
