The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially introduced the match ball for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
This official match ball is an homage to the iconic Ivorian forward, Laurent Pokou, whose legacy still resonates within the football community.
The unveiling marks another significant step in the countdown to the official kick-off of this highly anticipated tournament.
Named “POKOU,” the official ball prominently showcases the three primary colors of the Cote d’Ivoire flag – white, orange, and green. It also incorporates cutting-edge technology designed to bring a revolutionary dimension to the game, not only within the African continent but also on a global scale.

Scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024, the 2023 AFCON will be hosted in several cities, including Abidjan, Bouake, Korhogo, San Pedro, and Yamoussoukro.
The opening match at the Alhassan Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe, on January 13, will see the host nation, Cote d’Ivoire, face off against Guinea-Bissau’s Djurtus. It’s a momentous occasion that promises thrilling football action and a celebration of African soccer talent.
