The organised labour has announced the suspension of the planned nationwide strike following the agreement reached at end of the tripartite committee meeting on Monday night.
President of Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Ayuba Wabba who announced the suspension of the strike said all areas of the contentious issues have been resolved and documents signed by the parties.
He, however, said the exact figure agreed upon would be announced when the report is submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari today (Tuesday) by 4:15pm.
He said: “The National Minimum Wage tripartite negotiating committee as rightly put by the Chairperson, Ama People, has this night concluded its assignment, agreement has been reached and documents have been signed.
“The report would be submitted to Mr President today by 4:15pm. Therefore, organised labour would want to use this medium to thank all the tripartite partners for concluding the important national assignment.
“Since the assignment has been concluded, the organised labour has also decided that the proposed strike action is hereby suspended,” he said..
Chairperson of the committee, Ama People, NLC President and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha briefed the journalists at the end of the meeting.
SGF while thanking members of the committee for putting the interest of the nation above their their personal interest, said the committee had been working for the whole one year to arrive at the conclusion last night.
He assured that President Buhari would act expeditiously on the report for the workers to enjoy full benefits of the agreement.
