Manchester City assistant coach Mikel Arteta is reportedly wanted by
La Liga club Girona as their new manager after Arsenal snubbed.
36-year-old Spaniard was widely touted as the eventual successor to
Arsene Wenger, who quit the Emirates in May after 22 years at the
helm, however, the former Gunners player missed out to ex-Paris Saint-
Germain gaffer Unai Emery.
According to Sport claim that Arteta is a potential candidate to replace
Pablo Machin this summer after the 43-year-old coach has been
strongly linked with the Sevilla job despite taking the club to 10th in the
La Liga last season.
And Arteta is believed to head a list of candidates to replace him, with
Pep Guardiola’s assistant manager Domenec Torrent also under
consideration.
Girona and City have strong links, with Etihad owners City Football
Group holding 44.3 percent stake in the Spanish side.
